FAQs

Freshbay grows a variety of produce including Affinoria Fragaria strawberries and tropical fruits such as bananas, papaya, and passionfruit.

Freshbay’s innovative approach to indoor farming combines the benefits of vertical farming and greenhouses to provide year-round growth of produce. By utilizing geothermal energy, our system provides a sustainable and efficient source of heat and energy for the plants. Our use of cogeneration technology also allows us to generate off-grid electricity by burning natural gas and capturing the exhaust CO2, while also harvesting heat from the process. This unique combination of technologies sets Freshbay apart and enables us to grow high-quality, fresh produce all year round in a sustainable and environmentally-friendly manner.

Geothermal energy is a renewable energy source that is derived from the heat energy stored within the Earth’s crust. Freshbay harnesses this energy and uses it to heat its facilities, thereby reducing the need for fossil fuels and minimizing our environmental impact. We also utilize heat exchangers to capture and repurpose the heat generated in our facility, allowing us to both heat and cool our indoor growing spaces. This sustainable approach to energy consumption helps us to minimize our carbon footprint and grow produce in an environmentally-friendly manner.

Vertical farming is an innovative method of cultivating plants in vertically stacked layers, utilizing controlled-environment agriculture (CEA) technology. Freshbay’s vertical farms use advanced systems for lighting, irrigation, and climate control to optimize growing conditions and maximize productivity and yield per square foot.

Freshbay uses a variety of sustainable practices, including the use of renewable energy sources, water-efficient irrigation systems, and organic pest management techniques.
